Familiar name tabbed to rebuild Beachwood wrestling program

Beachwood’s wrestling team graduated a very successful senior class and now it’s up to Pete Cimoroni to rebuild the program for the future. Cimoroni had two very successful previous stints with the Bison and he’s looking forward to the challenge at hand. Read more

Gross, Harris double down at state tournament

Beachwood seniors Sam Gross and Ryan Harris closed out their high school careers by winning their second state championship and placed at state for the fourth straight year. Gross won his other title in 2012 and placed third in 2011 and 2013. Harris won his first title last season and placed seventh in 2011 and third in 2012. Read more

Beachwood seniors Sam Gross and Ryan Harris both will wrestle for a second state title on Saturday. Gross won his semifinal bout 7-3 and Harris scored a 23-8 technical fall to advance to the championship match in the 77th Annual OHSAA Division III State Wrestling Championships. Read more

Beachwood ties for second at district tournament

Heading into Saturday’s championship round at the Division III district tournament, Beachwood was 4 ½ points behind Rootstown for second place in the team race. Two championships later, the Bison earned a tie with the Rovers behind Applecreek Waynedale. Berkshire won two individual championships and advanced a total of nine wrestlers to next week’s district tournament on its way to winning the 2014 Division III Beachwood sectional tournament on Saturday. Scouting the 2014 Division III Beachwood Sectional Tournament

The wrestling post-season officially kicks off on Friday with sectional tournaments taking place across the Buckeye state. Beachwood once again hosts the Division III sectional that feeds into the Garfield Heights district tournament next weekend. Bison finish third in CVC Tournament

Led by champions Sam Gross, Anthony Walden and Ryan Harris, nine different Beachwood wrestlers earned a place on the podium as the Bison finished third overall in the 2014 Chagrin Valley Conference Wrestling Championships. Beachwood comes up short in bid for state tournament

Beachwood couldn’t overcome 12 forfeit points it gave up in a 37-32 loss to Rootstown in the Division III, Region 19 championship on Wednesday. Beachwood senior Ryan Harris was named Bison Athlete of the Week for the week ending January 19, 2014. Harris, the defending Division III 160-pound state champion, went 5-0 with two wins over returning state qualifiers at the 2014 Bill Dies Memorial Tournament at Akron Firestone High School last weekend. Beachwood got off to a great start in the 2014 OHSAA state dual meet wrestling tournament. The Bison defeated both Cardinal and Independence in Wednesday’s Division III Region 19A quarterfinals to advance to next week’s regional semifinals at a site to be determined. Harris sets school record with 155th career win

Senior Ryan Harris added another exclamation point to an amazing career when he notched the 155th victory of his Beachwood career on Saturday. Harris went 5-0 at the Nordonia Duals to surpass the previous school record of 152 career wins set by Michael Linsker in 2002. Full Story

Harris is the defending Division III 160-pound state champion and a three-time state placer.
